Convert PCD to searchable PDF

Image to PDF OCR Converter is the GUI application with a user-friendly interface. You can download it at its homepage. Then please install it by following the installation wizard which appears after you double click the setup file of the application. You are recommended to create a desktop icon so that you can open the application by just double clicking the icon.

When you open Image to PDF OCR Converter, you will be able to add PCD format file into it. Please click “File (F)”—“Add Files” in menu bar to open file picker window from which you can pick the file from your computer disk and click “Open” button to add the file into file list of the application. If you want to see whether you have added the right file, please click the file in file list to see its preview in preview frame. Please see the interface of the application in Figure 1.

Then you need to click “Setting” button to open “PDF E-Book Maker-OCR Version” to activate OCR function by clicking “OCR” tab in the tab control and checking “Use OCR” option in the tab. Then please click “OK” button to close the dialog box if you have set done all the parameters for the target file. If you want to learn more settings in this dialog box, you can click “Help (H)—“Help” in menu bar to open the user manual of the application online.

Click “Make PDF” button to choose the option “convert selected 1 file into pdf file” in popup floating item besides the button, which is to open “Save as” dialog box. Then please specify the location and input the name for target file in “Save in” dropdown list and “File name” edit box. At last, please click on “Save” button to run the conversion from PDF to searchable PDF.

When using Image to PDF OCR Converter Command Line to make the conversion, you also need to download the application at the same homepage of Image to PDF OCR Converter. The advantage of the command line application is not need to be installed. You just need to extract the ZIP file into your computer and then the files and components in extracted folder will be instantly runnable. The called program in this conversion is the executable file img2pdf.exe.

Please click “Start”—“Run” to open “Run” dialog box and input “cmd” in “Open” combo box in “Open” combo box of “Run” dialog box. Then click “OK” button. In opened MS-DOS command prompt window, you will be able to input the command line for converting PCD to searchable PDF. The command line is like the following template:

img2pdf [options] <-o output> <images>

There is two examples below which is the application of the template:

img2pdf –x 1 –u HERO –o “C:\Documents and Settings\file-out.pdf” C:\file-in.pcd

img2pdf –x 1 -o D:\*.pdf C:\*.pcd

In the first example,

img2pdf –x 1 –u HERO –o “C:\Documents and Settings\file-out.pdf” C:\file-in.pcd

  1. img2pdf is to call the program Image to PDF OCR Converter Command Line.
  2. –x 1 is to create searchable PDF document.
  3. –u HERO is to set the PDF producer as HERO.
  4. –o “C:\Documents and Settings\file-out.pdf” is to customize the target file path.
  5. C:\file-in.pcd is the path of input PCD image.

The second command line example is for converting PCD to PDF documents in batches because this application supports batch conversion.

After you input the command line, please press “Enter” button on the keyboard to run the conversion from PCD to searchable PDF.
