Most of printers do not support image as input, so when printing image files, you have to convert image to PDF. In this article, I will show you how to print image file directly to paper document. And sometime if you need to make printing PDF easily and perfect without changing fonts of original input PDF file, you can try to convert PDF to raster image file. The software can do that is VeryPDF PDFPrint Command Line,which is not a printer but it can make printing job more easy. In the following part, I will show you how to use this software.
Step 1. Know more about PDFPrint Command Line
- PDF print is based on MS-DOS interface, which is really helpful for manually controlling printing jobs. It can help you print most of common files like PDF, image, Office, OpenOffice and others to paper documents directly.
- Download PDFPrint. When downloading finishes, there will be a zip file. Please extract it to some folder then you can call the executable file in MS Dos Windows.
Step 2. Print image directly to paper document by command line.
- Here is the usage for your reference. Usage: pdfprint.exe [options] [Options] <PDF Files>
- When print image file, please refer to the following command line templates.
Print WMF and EMF files with vector information:
pdfprint.exe C:\input.wmf
pdfprint.exe C:\input.emf
Print Raster Image formats:
pdfprint.exe C:\input.bmp
pdfprint.exe C:\input.jpg
pdfprint.exe C:\input.tif
pdfprint.exe C:\input.gif
pdfprint.exe C:\input.png
pdfprint.exe C:\input.pcx
pdfprint.exe C:\input.tga
pdfprint.exe C:\input.jp2
pdfprint.exe C:\input.j2k
pdfprint.exe C:\input.pnm
When print image file, you do not need to add any other parameters. Simply input the full path of input file then you can print them directly to paper document. All the printing will keep all the original layout and formats.
This principle can be used to print PDF files. Sometimes when printing PDF file, we will meet some problems like font style changed, layout changed or others. Then you can render PDF to raster image and then print PDF. Here are some parameters for your reference.
-raster :by this parameter, we can render PDF page to image before printing
-raster2 : this parameter can help you render PDF page to image before printing
-raster2center :when you need to center the printout, please add this parameter. But you need to use this parameter together with parameter -raster2
-rasterbitcount <int> : this parameter can help you set bit count for raster image, e.g., 1, 8, 24
-rasterbwtext : this parameter can help you disable halftone for color text, and you also need to use it together with parameter -raster2 only.
-preproc :this parameter can help you process PDF file before printing, useful for some damaged PDF files.
