How to map a network printer


Summary: The follow is a guide how to map to a campus computer on Printserver.

On your desktop, click the Start -> Settings -> Printers and Faxes.



The following screen will appear. Under printer tasks located on your left side of the screen click Add a Printer.





This action will bring you to the Add Print Wizard. Click Next on the Welcome screen to continue.
Under the section Local or Network printer, choose A network printer, or a printer attached to another computer then click Next.





Now, choose Connect to this printer (or to browse for a printer). This action will unlock the textbox underneath.
In the textbox type in \\printserver\. Sometimes this action will trigger a drop down box list of printers. Continue on by typing the name of the printer. The format of the address is building, room, and printer band/model.



After selecting the printer, click Next.



You are given a choice to make this printer your default. This mean everytime you click print it will always choose this one. We recommend selecting No if the printer is not your primary printer. Click Next to continue on.



View over summary making sure you mapped the right printer and click Finish.



Completing the wizard you will a new printer added your list under Printers and Faxes.
