Convert PBM to searchable PDF

You can convert PBM to searchable PDF document easily with the help of the GUI application VeryPDF Image to PDF OCR Converter or the command line application Image to PDF OCR Converter Command Line. In the first half of this article, you will see how to make the conversion by using the GUI application. Then you will see convert PBM to searchable PDF by the command line application.

Please download Image to PDF OCR Converter at https://www.verypdf.com/app/image-to-pdf-ocr-converter/index.html and install it on your computer. If necessary, you can create a desktop icon for the application and then you can double click the icon when you want to open the application.

In the opened interface of Image to PDF OCR Converter, you need to add PBM image into the application. Please click “Add File (s)” button to open “Image2PDF” window from which you can choose the file you want to convert and click “Open” button to add it into the application. If you want to delete the added file from the file list, please right click the file and choose “Delete Selected Items” option in popup floating item.

Please click on “Setting” button to open “PDF E-Book Maker-OCR Version” dialog box in which you need to click “OCR” tab in the tab control and click “Use OCR” option for activating OCR function. If you want to convert the scanned PBM to searchable PDF document. Then click “OK” button to close the dialog box.

At last, please click “Make PDF” button. Then a floating item will pop up and you need to choose “convert selected 1 file into pdf file” option in the item to open “Save as” dialog box in which you are able to specify the location and edit the name for the target file. Then please click “Save” button to run the conversion from PBM to searchable PDF.

When you want to use the Image to PDF OCR Converter Command Line, you can also download it at https://www.verypdf.com/app/image-to-pdf-ocr-converter/index.html. There is no need to install the command line application. Extracting the ZIP file to a suitable location is enough.

Please open MS-DOS interface at first. You can click “Start”—“Run” to open “Run” dialog box in which you can input “cmd” in “Open” combo box and click “OK” button. In the opened MS-DOS interface, you can input your command line.

By referring to the following command line sample, you can write your own one exactly:

img2pdf [options] <-o output> <images>

Examples:

img2pdf –r 300 –x 1 –o C:\output.pdf C:\input.pbm

img2pdf –x 1 –s –a Nancy –o C:\output.pdf C:\input.pbm

img2pdf –x 1 –o C:\*.pdf D:\*.pbm

The former two examples are for converting one PBM to one searchable PDF document. The options “-r”, “-x 1”, “-s” and “-a” are for setting resolution, creating searchable PDF document, correcting image skew and setting PDF author respectively.

The last example is for converting PBM to searchable PDF in batches.

For running the conversion at last, please hit “Enter” button on your keyboard.
