Convert PNM to searchable PDF

The GUI application Image to PDF OCR Converter and the command line application Image to PDF OCR Converter Command Line support to convert different kinds of image to searchable PDF document. In this article, you will see how to convert PNM to searchable PDF by these two applications.

When using the GUI application, you need to set up it at first following with the installation wizard. When using the command line application, you need to extract the ZIP file to your computer and then you can use the executable file img2pdf.exe in extracted file as called program for the conversion at once.

Please see the conversion by using GUI application at first. You need to open the application by double clicking the application icon or click “Start”—“All Programs”—“Image2PDF OCR v3.2”—“Image2PDF OCR v3.2”. Please see the main window of the application in Figure 1. Then you will be able to add PNM image into the application.

Please click “File (F)”—“Add Files” to open file picker window and then choose PNM image you want to convert in this window. When you successfully added the image into application, you can see the file in file list and you can see its preview in preview frame.

To set the parameters for the target file and open OCR status you need to click “File (F)”—“Image2PDF Setting” to open “PDF E-Book Maker-OCR Version” dialog box and click “OCR” tab to check “Use OCR” option. Then please click on “OK” button.

To save PNM to searchable PDF document, please click “Make PDF” button and choose “convert 1 selected file into pdf file” option in the popup floating item. Then you need to save the target file in “Save as” dialog box.

Please see the conversion by using the command line application below. To open MS-DOS command prompt window is the first step. Just click “Start”—“Run” to open “Run” dialog box and input “cmd” in “Open” combo box. Click “OK” button at last.

In MS-DOS command prompt window, please input the command line. If you don’t know how to write the command line, please refer to the following one:

img2pdf [options] <-o output> <images>

Please see the following two examples

1. img2pdf -x 1 -o c:\sample.pdf c:\input.pnm

2. img2pdf –x 1 -o c:\*.pdf c:\*.pnm

The first command line example is to convert one PNM to one searchable PDF document. The second one is to convert PNM images to searchable PDF documents in batches. The option “-x 1” is to create searchable documents. In the command line, you need to use the full path of each file you use. If you want to see more commands, you can directly drag the executable file img2pdf.exe into MS-DOS command prompt window and click “Enter” button to see its usage.

At last, please hit “Enter” button on the keyboard to start the conversion from PNM to searchable PDF. You need to wait for several seconds until the conversion comes to the end and you can see the target file in the specified location.
