Convert TIF to searchable PDF

If you want to convert TIF to searchable PDF document and extract the characters from TIF image exactly, you can use the application VeryPDF Image to PDF OCR Converter or Image to PDF OCR Converter Command Line. These two applications are the updated versions of VeryPDF Image to PDF Converter and Image to PDF Converter Command Line. So from the name of the applications, you can see that in the updated versions, OCR tech are embedded in.

To download these two applications, please access the homepage: https://www.verypdf.com/app/image-to-pdf-ocr-converter/index.html where you can download all the applications mentioned above. After you download the GUI application Image to PDF OCR Converter to your computer, you need to install it on your computer according to installation wizard. After downloading command line application to your computer, you need to unzip the ZIP file in some location and then the executable file img2pdf.exe will be runnable.

The following contents will be divided into two parts: one is to describe how to convert TIF to searchable PDF by Image to PDF OCR Converter and the other one is to show you how to make the conversion by Image to PDF OCR Converter Command Line.

GUI application way:

Please open the application by clicking “Start”— “All Programs”—“Image2PDF OCR v3.2”—“Image2PDF OCR v3.2”. Then you will see the main interface of the application. Please add TIF image into the application. The most convenient way is to directly drag the file you need into the file list of the application. If you click the file in file list, you can see its preview in preview frame. Please see application interface in Figure 1.

Then please click “Setting” button to open “PDF E-Book-OCR Version” dialog box in which you need to click “OCR” tab. Then please check “Use OCR” option and then click “OK” button. To learn more functions in this dialog box, please read the user manual of Image to PDF OCR Converter at https://www.verypdf.com/tif2pdf/help/index.htm.

After that, please right click the image file in file list and click “Convert selected 1 file into one pdf file” option in popup floating item. Then you will be able to save the target file and run the conversion from TIF to searchable PDF in “Save as” dialog box.

Command Line way:

Please click “Start”—“Run” to open “Run” dialog box in which you need to input “cmd” in “Open” combo box and click “OK” button. MS-DOS interface will popup on your screen when you can input your command line. The command line contains called program which is the executable file img2pdf.exe, options for realizing different functions for the target file, source file which is the input TIF image and target file which is the searchable PDF document.

If you don’t know how to write the command line, you can directly drag the executable file img2pdf.exe into MS-DOS interface and hit “Enter” button on your keyboard, then the usage of the command line application will come out and you can refer to the command line template and various parameters to write your command line.

The usage of the command line:           img2pdf [options] <-o output> <images>

You can see the specific application to the command line usage in Figure 2 which gives you a whole command line.

The command line is

"C:\Program Files\image2pdf_cmd3.50_ocr\img2pdf.exe" -x 1 -k "TIF to searchable PDF" -o C:\target-file.pdf "C:\Program Files\Image2PDF OCR v3.2\trial.tif"

Where

"C:\Program Files\image2pdf_cmd3.50_ocr\img2pdf.exe" is the path of called program. If you don’t want to input a so long path, you can directly drag the file you need into MS-DOS interface.

-x 1 is to create searchable PDF document.

-k "TIF to searchable PDF" is to set PDF keywords as “TIF to searchable PDF”.

-o C:\target-file.pdf is to specify the output directory of the target file.

"C:\Program Files\Image2PDF OCR v3.2\trial.tif" is the path of source file.

At last, please don’t forget to hit “Enter” button to run the conversion from TIF to searchable PDF document.
