PDF Form Filling & Flattening, Fill and Flatten PDF Forms

The PDF Form Filling & Flattening component is used to create, fill and delete form fields in PDF documents automatically and efficiently.


The component is addressed via the command line. This makes it possible to process PDF documents individually and in batches.

You can use PDF Toolbox Command Line to Flatten fillable PDF files to static PDF files,



Use following command line to fill the PDF file by FDF file,

pdftoolbox -$ XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX sample_fillform.pdf -fillform sample_fillform.fdf -outfile _fillform_withnewdata_out.pdf

Use following command line to flatten a fillable PDF file to a static PDF file,

pdftoolbox "sample_fillform.pdf" -outfile "_flattenform_out.pdf" -flattenform

If your PDF file is not contain any fillable forms, you can use PDFStamp Command Line or PDFStamp SDK to add text, image stamp to PDF pages directly,


The PDF Form Filling & Flattening component component is designed to process large quantities of PDF documents automatically. Information is typically retrieved from a source such as a database to create personalized documents, or personalized information is extracted from forms for further processing.

PDF Form Filling & Flattening has following functions:

  • List and fill in existing form fields
  • Create new form fields
  • Delete existing form fields
  • Define font and font sizes for form fields
  • Flatten form fields (to make them un-editable)
  • Decrypt and encrypt PDF forms
  • Optionally pass command options via a control file instead of the command line
