Question:
Hello,
Will the VeryPDF HookPrinter only capture data from the machine on which it is installed? For example, if we install it on a Windows 10 desktop, will it only capture data from print jobs sent from this desktop? Our intention for this application is to capture data from Toast Tab POS, which prints from our tablets directly to Epson printers. Is this achievable?
We were under the impression that this software would be able to capture the print jobs from our POS (Toast Tab Cloud) to our receipt printer.
Do you have any software to achieve this? Our setup is below:
Toast Tab is a cloud POS which prints directly to receipt printers via IP address; we do not have a print server.

Thank you for your message. To provide an appropriate solution, we need a bit more information. Could you please let us know how your POS (Toast Tab Cloud) connects to your receipt printer? Are they connected by WiFi, Bluetooth, or a wired connection?
Different connection methods require different handling approaches, and the development cost will vary accordingly.
For example, if you connect the POS and receipt printer via WiFi, we may suggest the following solutions:
Solution 1: Use Network Sniffer Tools to Capture Network Traffic
With this solution, you can use another Windows computer to connect to the same WiFi network. Our network sniffer tool will automatically monitor and capture all print jobs on this WiFi network without any additional setup required from your side.
Solution 2: Install an Intermediate Printer on a Windows System within the Same WiFi Network
With this solution, we will develop a virtual printer and install it on your Windows system. You can print from the POS to this virtual printer instead of the receipt printer. The virtual printer will capture the print jobs, save them as PDF files, and then forward the print jobs to the receipt printer.
Please let us know which solution you prefer.
If your POS and receipt printer are connected by Bluetooth or a wired connection, we will need to find other solutions.

Are the Cloud POS and the receipt printer on the same WiFi network? If yes, I believe that both "Solution 1: Use Network Sniffer Tools to Capture Network Traffic" and "Solution 2: Install an Intermediate Printer on a Windows System within the Same WiFi Network" will work for you.
With either Solution 1 or Solution 2, we can capture the print jobs and save them in SPL format, then we can use VeryPDF SPL to PDF Converter Command Line software to convert the SPL files to PDF files.
