How to use Screen OCR?

Are there any useful text or characters on your computer screen, scanned document or image? Do you want to extract these characters out and save them as an editable Text document? To fulfill these kinds of work, you need the help of OCR (Optical Character Recognition) product and the new product VeryPDF Screen OCR will do this well enough for you.

Screen OCR is a kind of program which has the ability to capture and recognize the text on screen and then save the recognized character as TXT document at once. The characters you are going to recognize with Screen OCR can be in images, computer desktop, file pages, protected webpage, etc. It is an one button click program and you just need to follow the steps as follows to use Screen OCR.

At first, to use VeryPDF Screen OCR, you need to click here to download the free trial version of it and evaluate whether its functions are able to meet your requirements. Then you need to double click the installer and follow the setup wizard to install this program on your computer. Then

For running Screen OCR, please double click the application icon or open it through the Start menu and you will see a small and smart dialog box appear on your screen just like the one shown in Figure 1. In Language dropdown list, you will see all supported languages that the program are able to recognize. If you cannot find the language you need, please click more in the list to download the OCR language package online and there are multiple language packages for you to download.

Then please click Capture button to capture screen according to your needs. As long as you click on Capture button, the computer screen will be frozen and then you need to click left button of the mouse and drag the mouse to draw a rectangle with which you can select the characters that you want to recognize. Please see Figure 2. Please click OCR button and the next dialog box will pop up.

Please see the window in Figure 3. On the left of the window is the selected area to be OCRed and on the right you can see the recognized characters. Then you can do the last thing: to save the recognized characters are TXT document. Please click File—Save Text or click the button image  to save characters as TXT document in the default output directory. Or you can click File—Save Text as or click the button image to save characters as TXT in a specified location set by yourself.
