Print XPS to EMF

If you don’t know what is XPS format file, please see the following contents. XPS was designed as a replacement for EMF format. It is similar to a .PDF file. XPS files can be created in Windows by selecting the "Microsoft XPS Document Writer" as the printer when printing a document. The XPS file can be opened with its own XPS viewer. To print document of xps to emf, you can use Mini EMF Printer Driver which is a software development kit (SDK). By using the virtual printer supplied by the SDK, you can print xps to emf only by one step.

The virtual printer is named as VeryPDF Demo EMF Printer. It can be used to print any printable documents to EMF format image. To use VeryPDF Demo EMF Printer, you need to click here to download Mini EMF Printer Driver firstly. After installing it on your computer, you are able to see the printer in printer list when you click “Start”—“Printers and Faxes”.

If you need to change the name for the printer in the printer list, please right click on VeryPDF Demo EMF Printer with your mouse and click “Rename” option to input the name for the printer in file name frame.

Please open the XPS document at the beginning of the conversion from xps to emf. Then please click “File”—“Print” to open “Print” dialog box. For opening the same dialog box, you can also use the hot key “Ctrl”+ “P”. In the popup “Print” dialog box, please choose “VeryPDF Demo EMF Printer” as current printer in “Select Printer” dropdown list and click “Print” button. Please see the process in Figure 1.

After clicking on “Print” button, you will see the target file come out itself played by the default image viewing program of your computer.

The target file is saved in the default directory C:\. If you want to change it, please find the initialization file of Mini EMF Printer Driver by opening the path “C:\Program Files\VeryPDF Mini EMF Printer v2.0\emf_printer_driver\option.ini” and rewriting “C:\” as the new directory in the command “OutputFile=C:\”.

Mini EMF Printer Driver supplies virtual printer and interfaces which can be called by third part application. It is specially designed for software developers to develop their own applications. The command line application in Mini EMF Printer Driver can also be called by software developers to realize the functions of printing any printable documents to image formats.
